Isn’t it misleading to say that the brain has its priorities straight? The spinothalamic tract has little to no myelination fibers carrying pain sensory information (as well as warmth). The fastest track is from the dorsal column with the largest myelination taking place with proprioceptive information. I think the most common way of thinking is that important information like pain should be carried the fastest when it is actually not the case at all (without going into reflex arcs which dont travel to the brain).
